Privacy Policy — The Vow List

Who we are

The Vow List ("we", "us") is a free wedding directory connecting couples with wedding vendors across Australia. You can reach us any time at hello@thevowlist.com.au.

What we collect

Account details — if you create an account: your name, email, password (stored securely, hashed), and whether you're a couple or a vendor.
Activity — the vendors you view, save to your shortlist, compare, and search for, plus general usage of the site. This is the heart of how we improve the directory.
Enquiries — messages you send to vendors through us.
Device & cookies — we use your browser's local storage and cookies to remember your shortlist, your session, and your preferences.

Why we collect it

To run the core features — accounts, shortlisting, comparing, and enquiries.
To understand what couples are looking for so we can improve the directory and help vendors reach the right people.
To give vendors insights about interest in their profiles (see below).

How we share it

With vendors — when you enquire, your message and contact details go to that vendor. Vendors can see aggregate interest, and Vendor Pro subscribers can see which registered vendors viewed their profile. We do not sell couples' personal contact details to vendors.
With related businesses — insights and de-identified trends from activity on The Vow List may be used by our related and affiliated businesses (including Aurora Photography Sydney) to improve and market their services. Where this involves your personal information, we rely on the consent you give at sign-up, and you can opt out at any time.
Service providers — we use trusted providers (such as Supabase for our database and Stripe for vendor payments) who process data on our behalf under their own strict security terms.

Your choices & rights

Access & correction — ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it.
Deletion — ask us to delete your account and data at any time.
Opt out — withdraw consent for marketing/insights use, or clear your on-device data by logging out and clearing your browser storage.

Keeping it safe

Data is stored with reputable providers using encryption in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and only keep it as long as we need it.

Children

The Vow List isn't intended for anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

We'll update this page when things change and note the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we'll let account holders know.
